  • Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT)
  • CBT assists clients in understanding the thoughts and feelings that influence their behaviors.
  • Clients learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior.
  • The goal of cognitive behavior therapy is to teach clients that while they cannot control every aspect of the world around them, they can take control of how they interpret and deal with things in their environment.
  • Play therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are you located?
A: We have two locations.  I am located at 8668 John Hickman Pkwy, Suite 802, Frisco, Texas 75034.

Q:  What is the first step to starting counseling services?
A: You are welcome to fill out a contact form, email me directly at lauren@friscocounselingandwellness.com or call our front office at 972-380-1842. My office hours are Monday-Friday by appointment. Evening hours are available.

Q: Where can I find new client paperwork?
A: New client paperwork can be emailed to you upon request. Group paperwork will be emailed to you depending on the type of group you are interested in being a part of. Paperwork can be filled out online, or printed and brought in during the time of the first session or group meeting.

Q: How long does a session last and how often are they?
A: Sessions are typically 45 minutes, however 60-90 minute sessions can be scheduled as needed for an additional rate. Sessions are scheduled depending on counseling goals and other determining factors. The length of time in counseling also depends on counseling goals, and how often you are coming in for services.

Q: What can I expect during the first session?
A: The first session is a time for us to go through your new client paperwork, and answer any questions or concerns you might have about the counseling process. We will discuss what is important to you to achieve or gain from your counseling journey, and we will come up with counseling goals. These goals may change or be updated throughout your time in counseling.

Q: What is a parent consult and is it required?
A: A parent consult is required if your child or adolescent is seeking counseling services. A parent consult is a chance for the parent and the counselor to review paperwork and counseling goals, and to go over any questions or concerns. The second scheduled session will be with the child or adolescent. There will be a parent consult every few sessions to update the parent on progress, and occasionally have opportunities for collaboration and ways to support the child or adolescent at home.

Q: How much do services cost?
A: Current fees can be discussed by contacting me. Fees are dependent on the type of services needed. Sliding scale rates are available for those who qualify. Fees should never be the reason why a client does not receive the help they need. I am always willing to discuss options that fit into your current budget. Certain paperwork and documentation will be required.

Q: What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment?
A: If the session is rescheduled or cancelled before 24 hours of your appointment time, there will be no fee assessed. If the reschedule or cancellation is not before the 24 hour
mark, then you will be assessed the full session fee per our office policy.

*Any other questions are welcome! Feel free to contact me.
